Cancer insurance is great for Medicare Advantage and Federal Marketplace beneficiaries - get a lump sum payment if you’re ever diagnosed.
Short-term and Long-term health plans help you with medical expenses if you ever need rehabilitation after an accident or illness.
For ancillary products, we’re referring to supplemental coverage that could cut costs and bring added protection to you. We recommend these products based on your needs, but also for those that just want further coverage for extra peace of mind.
We will break down what each product covers and how it could help you “fill in the gaps”. Some people, based on family history, will recognize the value immediately. Others may realize there are savings on the table for services they regularly receive. With healthcare costs on the rise, these supplemental options could help contain your out-of-pocket expenses when the time comes.
DVH (Dental, Vision, Hearing)
The most popular supplemental product we offer. Dental, vision, and hearing are typically not covered by original Medicare, Medigap, or even the VA. The exception is if it is medically required and Medicare-approved.
Most dental plans offer two preventative cleanings and one x-ray per year. Both are covered at 100% if you use an in-network dentist. This benefit alone justifies the monthly premium. Since dental plans are most often PPO’s, you can use out-of-network dentists, but you will have to pay more out of pocket. Comprehensive dental work is also covered at a coinsurance for popular services such as crowns, fillings, root canals, and implants. Some plans also cover orthodontia for you and your family.

Cancer/Heart Attack/Stroke
A cancer policy helps individuals with their financial responsibilities once they have been diagnosed. You pick the benefit amount and once you’re diagnosed with cancer, you get paid - most often in the form of a lump sum payment.
36% of cancer patients deplete their savings and 60% of personal bankruptcies are attributed to medical expenses. With 1 in 3 people developing some type of cancer or cardiovascular disease, the outstanding question is: Can you afford a critical illness?
Beneficiaries on Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage are responsible for 20% of chemotherapy. Having a cancer policy can help alleviate this cost-share and help with your financial responsibilities until your maximum out of pocket is met.
Some of these policies also include riders for heart attacks and strokes. A lump sum is sent to you to help cover missed work and medical expenses.
If your family has a history of cancer diagnoses or heart problems, then these policies could be right for you.
Hospital Indemnity
Hospital Indemnity can help cover hospital stays, outpatient surgeries, ambulance rides, therapy visits, and more! These plans help you cover out-of-pocket expenses when dealing with copayments and deductibles for these services.
You select the benefit amount and if any of the services above are required, you get reimbursed directly to cover the costs. Since indemnity plans were designed to help “fill in the gaps” to existing coverage, they work very well with Medicare Advantage, High-deductible Medigap plans, and those on Federal Marketplace plans. Whether you’re under 65 or planning to retire, Hospital Indemnity may be perfect supplemental protection for you.
When you stay in the hospital or require surgery, you’re likely to lost wages, lost time, hardship, and of course hospital expenses. Money is deposited right into your account, so you can use the funds at your discretion.
For example, Suzy fell and injured her leg. She required surgery and had to stay in the hospital for 3 days for recovery. She received physical therapy afterwards as well. With the right Hospital Indemnity plan, Suzy will get reimbursed for her initial hospital admission, every day she recovered, her surgery, and therapy visits. Any extra money she has leftover can be used as she sees fit.
Short-Term Health

Patients receive a daily benefit amount to help offset costs associated with care. Family caregivers can often feel episodes of feeling burnt-out, and these plans can provide financial relief and caregiver support services as well.

Frequently Asked Questions
I usually cash pay, is the dental plan really worth it?
Definitely worth it. It depends where you live, but the SC state average is $171 for one cleaning. If you receive two cleanings a year, that’s $342, not including any other work or an x-ray. If you’re just shopping for a plan to take care of your routine services, most plans start off around $26 per/mo, which equals out to be $312 annually. That includes two cleanings, an x-ray, and two exams per year for no additional cost if you use in-network services. Not to mention all the major discounts you receive if you need comprehensive services from your dentist.
What if I never use these products? Aren’t I just throwing money away?
Not at all, because we plan for the unexpected. Do you expect your house to burn down tomorrow? Well, no but you have homeowners’ insurance. What about your health, do you expect to fall into bad health this year? Not at all, but we insure ourselves just in case. In our minds, we expect every day to be generally the same – it’s like the inertia bias. It’s all about proper planning. Peace of mind and extra protection is never a waste.
Can we shop around for the lowest priced product?
We’re a brokerage, so we offer the same product from many different companies. The products may slightly differ between each company, so we pair you up with our idea of the best and most affordable option.
